Registration for the co-ed Margate Basketball Skills and Drills Academy is now open to residents and non-residents from ages six to 16 years old (age as of January 1, 2021).
In lieu of our traditional season, the Margate Basketball League is offering a Skills and Drills Academy for the 2021 season. This camp style program will provide group trainings by experienced and dedicated coaches. In partnership with the South Florida Hoop Group, the camp will focus on basketball fundamentals, speed and agility, as well as character building through stations, drills, contests and prizes. Over the course of this 3-month program, participants will have the opportunity to put their skills on display with bi-weekly games.
Registration will take place January 1st through February 12th and is limited to 40 participants per division. All trainings and games shall take place at Firefighters Park, 2500 Rock Island Road in Margate, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
The cost is $125 for all participants, which includes a training performance t-shirt, evaluation booklet, games and awards. Only full payments accepted upon registration. All registrations must be online at margatefl.com/parksandrec
Both training sessions and games will begin in February. Trainings will take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:00 and 7:15pm. Sophomores (ages 11-13) and Juniors (ages 14-16) will take place on Tuesdays, Minis (ages 6-8) and Freshman (ages 9-10) will take place on Thursdays. Games are twice a month on Saturdays beginning at 9:00am.
